Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited(BHEL) will be the nodal agency for developing a
unified digital super appto serve as a single platform for Electric Vehicle (EV) users across India. An official statement said the app will feature real-time slot booking, payment integration, charger availability status, and progress dashboards for tracking national deployment under the
PM E-Drive scheme.
BHEL will also coordinate with states and ministries to compile and evaluate proposals for charger installations, the statement added.
The decision to entrust BHEL with this task was taken during a meeting to review the PM E-Drive scheme. With financial outlay of ₹2,000 crore, the scheme aims to support installation of approximately 72,000 EV public charging stations across the country. The stations will be deployed along 50 national highway corridors, within high-traffic destinations such as metro cities, toll plazas, railway stations, airports, etc.
