Maruti Suzuki India Limited(MSIL) have announced their plans to establish the
Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence(OSCOE) in India . The announcement was made at a remembrance event held in Delhi, for Suzuki, who passed away last year on December 25.
The proposed Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) will be located in Gujarat and Haryana. It will focus on building infrastructure and developing programmes in collaboration with academic institutions to promote Japanese manufacturing philosophies. These programmes will include formal teaching, lectures, discussions, and seminars.
His legacy
Osamu Suzuki played a crucial role in making car ownership accessible to the common man in India. He also contributed to the emergence of India as a major car producing nation in the world.
OSCOE's objectives include supporting the national objective of high manufacturing growth. It also aims to raise the standard of component manufacturers, including tier-1, 2, and 3 suppliers.
Born on January 30, 1930, Mr. Osamu Suzuki graduated from the Faculty of Law at Chuo University in March 1953. He began his career at Suzuki Motor Corporation in April 1958.
